Two great themes dominate the landscape of Hebrews. First, the incomparable Jesus. He is “the better”…. The better king, priest, Moses, Sacrifice. You can never have too high a view of Jesus! Second, the writer encourages all believers to Never Turn Loose of their faith in Jesus. Never quit, hold on, don’t give up… knowing that even when we are at our wit’s end, exhausted and just plain run over with life—Jesus is faithful and he is holding on to us. Even when our own faith wanes His faithfulness is sufficient. Encourage each other, lift each other and entangle yourself so deeply to God’s grip through prayer, study and fellowship that you can’t help but stay connected.
This is a great message. It reminds us of the importance of committing to a regular time of fellowship—Sunday Worship, a regular time of study and regular times of prayer.
Now, in other news… Kathy and I are going to attend the Preaching and Teaching Convention at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO, Feb. 23-26. We may be separated by a few miles but we are never too far away to listen and pray with each other.
Make sure you sign up to attend the Rural Church Conference in Sutherland on Saturday, Feb. 28—you can find more info elsewhere in this newsletter.
