In the aftermath of the most recent storms and tornadoes that hit northwest Iowa no one from our congregation lost their lives. However, one of our families did not escape damage nor did their neighbors. The following is what Chris and Karen Weinreich reported to us along with photos of the damage. Needless to say if you are able to help with clean up I am sure they would be most grateful. Their plates are pretty full right now without adding the stress of storm damage. We pray for them during this stressful time.
Most of our days have been spent in doing yard cleanup. Here are a few pictures that show the damage that our family farm endured over the weekend. We have at least 50 plus trees that were damaged either by being pulled out, had twisted tops, or limbs that were damaged by the wind. Our house has some damage to the roof, eaves/gutters need replaced, and the chimney needs further looking into. The outbuildings will need attention too at some point. But just over the hill to the south our neighbors did not fair too well. Homes, farm equipment, machine sheds, vehicles, outbuildings, barns....all a total loss.
During the storm we prayed to God to put a "hedge of protection" around us and our neighbors and He did just that. No lives were lost...but He really did put a "hedge of protection" around us as we were totally surrounded by trees and debris and could only get out of the house via upstairs.
Would you please remember our family in prayer as this truly is a stressful time?
