Thomas: A Skeptical Follower

The apostle Thomas is more commonly referred to as “Doubting Thomas.” The name fits quite well. When the other disciples reported to him that Jesus had come back to life he had his doubts, and rightly so. It was only a few days before that Jesus had been crucified on the cross. Thomas knew well that people don’t survive crucifixion. And so, when he heard the news of Jesus’ resurrection, he demanded evidence before he would believe. Still, there are three positive traits about Thomas that enabled him to move from an outspoken skeptic to a confident believer.
