Has America Passed The Point Of No Return?

It’s very likely our founding fathers would get back on the boat and head for England if they saw what’s happened in America.

When the Pilgrims came here in 1620, their very purpose was to establish a government based on the Bible. The New England Charter, signed by King James I, confirmed this goal: “… to advance the enlargement of the Christian religion, to the glory of God Almighty …”
Governor Bradford, in writing of the Pilgrim’s landing, described their first act: “… being thus arrived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven …”

The goal of having a government based upon the Bible was further reaffirmed by individual colonies. The Rhode Island Charter of 1862 begins: “We submit our persons, lives, and estates unto our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords, and to all those perfect and most absolute laws of His given us in His Holy Word.” And it was those “absolute laws” that became the basis of our Declaration of Independence.

Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Those words, more than anything else, explain the unprecedented, providential prosperity and blessing that have been ours for the past 249 years here in America.

The reason His blessings have been upon us in such immeasurable abundance is because our country was purposely founded upon godly principles for the express purpose of glorifying God. As a result, God blessed this nation.

But America has not blessed God. In fact, during the past 60 years or so, the majority of our nation has deliberately tried to ignore the God of our fathers. In fact, the liberal left has tried to intentionally remove God and the influence of Christianity completely from our country. From the secular humanists to the militant feminists to the ACLU and the unabashedly liberal and unquestionably biased media and entertainment industry to groups like Planned Parenthood and the LGBTQ+ community, there has been an unquestionable all-out assault on Christian morals, values, principles and people.

The attacks on God and Christianity, here in America, have taken various forms. From those who say our country was founded upon the principle of “separation of church and state” and that’s why God has no rightful place or purpose in our government, public gatherings, public policies, or our way of life. That statement, by-the-way, “separation of church and state,” is not found in our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, or the Bill of Rights. But it is firmly entrenched in the twisted minds of the liberal establishment.

Then, there are the historical revisionists who are rewriting our American history, eliminating every single reference to God. And the politically correct crowd who have saturated our culture with the message of tolerance, as long as the tolerance is for anything but Christianity.

Thanks to Hollywood, Los Angeles and New York, and the influence of television, movies and the internet, we have become one of the most, if not the most, immoral and violent countries on earth. Thanks to the abortionists, who are praised and honored in our sick society and have been protected by the courts, the most unsafe place to live is inside a mother’s womb. Tragically, the second most unsafe place to be is on a public school campus. And I could go on and on.

But of all the threats facing America, perhaps the greatest of all is the silence of the church in the midst of our country’s moral meltdown. Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Unfortunately, it appears we are doing much too good a job at that.

Can America return to its roots and get back to being a nation God can bless? I’ll let God answer that: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
