Early Morning Prayer

Good morning, church family!

As summer vacations wind down and school schedules begin again, many of us feel the familiar shift back into routines. Early alarms return. Calendars fill up. Practices, homework, meetings and responsibilities quickly take their place. While this season can feel busy, it also gives us a meaningful opportunity to ask an important question: not simply, “What routine am I returning to?” but “How will I make room for God within this routine?”

Throughout Scripture, we see that God often works through rhythms, not just remarkable moments. In creation, there was evening and there was morning. Day by day, God brought order, beauty and purpose. Jesus also lived with holy rhythms. Mark 1:35 tells us, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Even in the demands of ministry, Jesus regularly withdrew to be with His Father.

We often look for mountaintop spiritual experiences, but much of our growth happens through faithful routines: daily prayer, regular worship, consistent service, time in God’s Word and intentional moments with family. These habits do not earn God’s love. They help us stay connected to the grace, strength and wisdom He freely gives. There is a difference between a rut and a rhythm. A rut keeps us stuck and distant from God. A holy rhythm keeps us moving toward growth, love, self-control and deeper faith. As schedules get full, let us not allow busyness to crowd out our relationship with Jesus.

This fall, let us commit again to gathering faithfully with the church, encouraging one another, worshiping together and personally seeking the Lord each day. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest” (Galatians 6:9). May this new season become a fresh invitation to walk closely with Christ.

Blessings,
Pastor David
